Biology At the Zoo

Course Description

The course will present a fascinating look at the nature of living organisms and their relationships to the importance to life on our planet. We will be studying our biosphere, ecosystems, communities, populations, biodiversity, and conservation biology using six biomes at the zoo. A secondary unifying aspect of this course will illustrate how the ecology of microorganisms is essential to the maintenance of ecological balance. This course is flexible, designed to allow class participation and discussion. Half of the laboratory component will be conducted at the Louisville Zoo. One hour lecture, three hours laboratory/field.
