Multicultural Theory and Competencies

Course Description

This course aims to develop our cultural, social, and political competency through consciousness raising by understanding how our own positionalities influence, enhance, and/or constrain our practice in education. Multicultural competency provides one with understanding of the self and others. Students will explore the concepts of diversity, multiculturalism, social justice, inclusivity, and anti-racism, while doing self-work to understand who they are and how that informs their everyday work in the field of higher education.
