Bioethics for Rehabilitation Professionals

Course Description

This course provides students with foundational philosophical knowledge in moral theory, and facilitates students' understanding of ethical attitudes, behaviors, and skills. This practical and professional ethics course explores the nature and goals of healthcare and the values that inform the healthcare system, especially related to the rehabilitation profession. Students will learn the core values of their profession and reflect upon the nature of their profession. This course fosters an appreciation of the collaborative nature of healthcare, and enables students to reflect upon, confront, and resolve ethical issues that they may confront during their training and professional practice. Students will learn to understand the moral basis of healthcare practice, cultivate ethical decision-making habits, and evaluate moral conflicts in practice.
