Course Description

This course will engage and challenge students as to the law and how it relates in a variety of higher educational settings. The course will introduce students to state and federal law along with the investigation and implications of how the law is applied to higher education. Legal perspectives from an array of stakeholders in higher education will be studied and analyzed during the course. The course will also examine the law's application to various areas of decision-making relating to leadership roles and responsibilities, governance, compliance, and duty as agents of the University. The course will introduce important and pertinent legal issues facing higher education. It will assist the student in developing analytical skills in order to think more clearly and confidently about legal issues. The course will help the student develop the ability to make professional and personal decisions from a legal and ethical perspective.
