Law and Economics

Course Description

Economic analysis is used to evaluate laws and legal institutions. It provides a scientific analysis of how legal constraints shape household and firm behavior. This course examines the importance of economics in the development of laws, and in analyzing the effect of laws on incentives and the efficient allocation of resources. Many of the applications involve tort law, property law, contract law, and legal procedures.
