Course Description

This course begins with an investigation of decimals and the arithmetic of decimal numbers. Then, there is an examination of ratios, rates, and proportions, leading to percentages, uncertainty, and chance. This is followed by the study of basic statistics emphasizing measures of central tendency, variance, and ways of organizing data. Next, the study of geometry begins with examination of the basic shapes of one, two, and three dimensions and is followed by an investigation of the basic ways these shapes can be transformed: translation, reflection, and rotation. The study of basic measurement including length, area, surface area, and volume completes the content of this course.
