Course Description

This clinical practicum course represents the apex of clinical integration and application of all prior coursework. Designed as immersive, practical intensive experience, this final course aims to consolidate theoretical knowledge and practice skills, fostering advanced competencies essential for effective psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner practice period students will engage in supervised practical experiences and diverse mental health settings, applying evidence based interventions, conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments, formulating diagnosis, and creating tailored treatment plans. Emphasis is placed on refining therapeutic communication, medication management, and holistic care approaches. Through this culminating practicum, students will solidify their proficiency and critical decision making, ethical considerations, and the collaborative role of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
