Requirements

1. 35 hours of graduate credits in nursing.
2. A minimum of 24 hours of graduate credits earned in residence at Bellarmine.
3. Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA out of 4.0 overall grade point average throughout the program.

  • NURS 801 Foundations of Scholarship (1 cr)

  • NURS 802 Foundations of Grant Writing (1 cr)

  • NURS 804 Healthcare Informatics (3 cr)

  • NURS 806 National and Global Health Policy and Law (3 cr)

  • NURS 808 Advanced Statistics for the Health Sciences (3 cr)

  • NURS 810 Methods for Evidence-based Practice in Healthcare (3 cr)

  • NURS 812 Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (3 cr)

  • NURS 814 Clinical Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (3 cr)

  • NURS 816 Managerial Epidemiology (3 cr)

DNP Core Clinical Courses - 6 credit hours

  • NURS 891 Practice Immersion I (1 cr)

  • NURS 892 Practice Immersion II (2 cr)

  • NURS 893 Practice Immersion III (1 cr)

  • NURS 895 Residency (2 cr)

Executive Leadership (Focus on Systems/Organizations) - 6-9 credit hours

  • NURS 841 Selected Topics in Advanced Nursing (with clinical practice hours) (3 cr)*

  • NURS 861 Advanced Leadership and Management of Organizations and Systems (3 cr)-Prerequisite: NURS 639**

  • NURS 863 Advanced Health Care Economics and Finance (3 cr)- Prerequisite: NURS 625**

Total: 35-44 credits - total credit requirement is dependent on waiver and prerequisite requirements below:

*NURS 841 is automatically fulfilled for students holding a current ANCC certification as Nurse Executive-Advanced.
**Students who do not hold an MSN in Nursing Administration/Leadership must complete prerequisites for NURS 861 & NURS 863.
