Requirements

1. 37-43 hours of graduate credits in nursing.
2. A minimum of 24 hours of graduate credits earned in residence at Bellarmine.
3. Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA out of 4.0 overall grade point average throughout the program.

DNP Core Didactic Courses - 23 credit hours

  • NURS 801 Nursing Through Time: History, Ethics, and Professional Identity (1 cr)

  • NURS 802 Grant Writing and Ethical Scholarship in Healthcare (1 cr)

  • NURS 804 Advanced Healthcare Informatics Leadership and Regulation (3 cr)

  • NURS 806 Health Policy and Advocacy in a Global Context (3 cr)

  • NURS 808 Advanced Data Analysis for Healthcare Decision Making (3 cr)

  • NURS 810 Evidence Based Practice and Clinical Guidelines Implementation (3 cr)

  • NURS 812 Advancing Quality and Safety in Healthcare Environments (3 cr)

  • NURS 814 Transformative Practice Improvement and Interprofessional Collaboration (3 cr)

  • NURS 816 Epidemiology and Disaster Preparedness for Population Health Management (3 cr)

DNP Core Clinical Courses - 6 credit hours

  • NURS 891 Practice Immersion I (1 cr)

Executive Leadership (Focus on Systems/Organizations) - 8 credit hours

  • NURS 861 Leadership in Healthcare: Fostering Excellence and Resilience (3 cr)--Prerequisite: NURS 639*

  • NURS 863 Financial Management and Economic Analysis in Healthcare Initiatives Finance (3 cr)--Prerequisite: NURS 625*

  • NURS 865 Advocacy, Equity, and Leadership in Nursing (2 cr)

Total: 37-43 credits - total credit requirement is dependent on prerequisite requirements below:

*Prerequisite Requirements - 6 credit hours
Students who do not hold an MSN in Nursing Administration/Leadership must complete the prerequisites for NURS 861 & NURS 863:

  • NURS 639 Health Systems Management (3 cr)

  • NURS 625 Financial Aspects of Health Care (3 cr)
