The Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Social Justice is a 30-hour graduate, online program that provides students with the foundation and breadth of knowledge and professional experiences to be able to lead and serve in a variety of entry and mid-level positions in higher education. The curriculum in higher education theory and social justice principles addresses the professional standards, skills and personal development education necessary to work and lead in higher education settings. The degree prepares students to engage and direct student learning through professional positions in student life, academic affairs, athletics, student development and a multitude of administrative positions across the campus in a variety of higher education settings including: traditional undergraduate and graduate colleges and universities, community colleges, for-profit institutions, online higher educational institutions and professional undergraduate and graduate settings. The degree also prepares students to work in other functional areas in higher education, such as advancement and business and finance.

Requirements for Admission:

  • Application Materials: Graduate application, application fee, official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended.

  • Recommendations: Two professional and/or academic letters of recommendation.

  • Personal statement: A 500-word statement on the students’ personal profile and career aspirations.

  • Grade point average: A grade point average of 3.0 or better for undergraduate work taken from a regionally accredited institution is recommended or a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Any applications that do not meet this recommendation will be reviewed individually by the admission committee.
