Description of Program

The major in Sports Administration develops students’ understanding and application of the fundamental skills required for sports administration. The Sports Administration major provides an in-depth, liberal arts-based focus on Sports Administration through required sports related classes in sports administration, sports law, history of sports, sports psychology, sports and society, exercise science, and facility and event management. The major provides students flexibility to tailor the degree to their interests and career objectives. Using their free electives, students add breadth or depth through a second major or minor(s) - which students are strongly encouraged to pursue through discussion with the Sports Administration advisor. Professional internships are also an integral part of the Sports Administration program. Internships provide students with relevant professional experience and employment opportunities upon graduation.

Many of our majors pursue a graduate degree. Students can complete a dual Bachelor of Arts in Sports Administration/MBA, Sports Administration/MS in Digital Media, Sports Administration/MA in Communication, or Sports Administration/MA in Teaching in 5-years through early entry programs. Students graduate with a BA in Sports Administration after 4 years, while starting their graduate program in the senior year. The graduate degree is completed in the fifth year. Some students are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in physical therapy. Within the Sports Administration degree, students can include all the pre-requisite requirements for the Bellarmine DPT program.
