Requirements

The RFMS minor requires 18 credits hours as outlined below:

HIST 220 Introduction to Refugee and Forced Migration Studies (3 cr hrs);
Plus 15 credit hours of electives chosen from:

  • ANTH 111 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology

  • COMM 313 Intercultural Communications

  • ENGL 337 Contemporary Caribbean Literature

  • GEOG 175 Introduction to Human Geography

  • HIST 320 Modern Africa

  • HIST 321 The Modern Middle East

  • HIST 327 Modern Latin America and Caribbean History

  • HIST 415 Arab-Israeli Conflict

  • HIST 424 Genocide: A Comparative History

  • HIST 445 Internship in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies

  • PS 325 International Relations

  • PS 419 Public Policy

  • THEO 307 World Religions

  • THEO 335 Theology from the Margins

Note:
No more than six hours in any discipline may count for the minor.
HIST 220 and HIST 445 do not count toward the six-hour limit in History courses.
Other special topics courses may be approved by the director on a course substitution basis.
