Requirements

Requirements for a Minor in African and American African Diaspora Studies include one required course (3 credit hours) and five elective courses (15 credit hours) for a total of 18 credit hours as outlined below.

Required Minor Course (3 hours):

  • SOAN 202 Introduction to the African Diaspora and African American Experience

Required Minor Electives (15 hours)
Courses pre-approved to count towards the minor electives are listed below. Additional courses (taught through Bellarmine, Metroversity, or study abroad, or courses from other universities) will also be considered for fulfillment of electives if shown to meet at least two program goals; such courses must receive approval from the Program Advisor for the African and African American Diaspora Studies degree minor.
