Bellarmine University has designed this program to provide the 10 pre-approved courses required for eligibility to sit for the Child Life Specialist certification exam administered by the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP). However, completion of a 600-hour clinical internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist is also required for certification eligibility. The university does not guarantee placement in or completion of this internship, as opportunities are highly competitive and controlled by external healthcare institutions. Students are responsible for securing their own internship placements. Students with tuition loan arrangements with Norton Healthcare through the Norton Scholars Program may have opportunities to complete the required 600-hour internship.
